Threads Money Guide

How to make money on Threads

Threads does not pay most creators for their posts. The people who earn there sell something. This guide covers 7 ways that work, what Meta offers as of October 2026, and what 22,869 top posts say about where your link should go.

The short answer

  • As of October 2026, Meta has not published a payout, bonus or ad revenue share for Threads. Its bonuses cover Instagram reels and photos, by invite only.
  • Most creators earn from their own offer: a product, a service, affiliate links, brand deals or a newsletter.
  • There is no follower minimum. You need an offer and an audience that wants it.
  • Keep the link out of the post. Only 45 of 22,869 top posts had one in the text, and their median engagement was 36% lower.
  • Likes are not sales. If posts get likes and no buyers, check your positioning, call to action, offer, landing page and follow-up.

Does Threads pay creators?

Not as of October 2026. Meta has not published a payout, bonus or ad revenue share for Threads posts on its creator pages, help center or newsroom. The money people make on Threads comes from selling.

Meta's creator site lists Subscriptions, Gifts, Bonuses, Badges and brand partnerships as ways to earn, and its earning and bonus pages do not mention Threads. Threads does run ads. Meta said on January 21, 2026 that ads would reach users in all markets. That news was for advertisers, and it said nothing about paying creators.

So plan as if Threads will never pay you directly.

How does the Threads bonus program work?

As of October 2026, Meta has not published a bonus program for Threads. Its bonus pages cover Instagram, where bonuses reward reels and photos, and Meta calls them limited time and invite-only.

Meta's current help article on bonuses is titled "Bonuses on Instagram" and does not mention Threads. If you also create on Instagram, your payouts sit in your Professional dashboard, under Tools, then Payouts. Look for any offer from Meta there, not in a stranger's message.

Threads also has Gems, a badge for standout conversations. Meta's help page says only people in the US can get one for now, and it mentions no payment.

Threads monetization requirements and countries

With no Threads payout program, there are no official Threads monetization requirements and no country list, whether you live in India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria or South Africa. For Instagram's tools, Meta's Partner Monetization Policies require you to live in an eligible country, and Meta can change or end those features at any time.

None of the ways below depend on Meta. If you can take payment where you live, you can sell from Threads.

Meta's programs change. These facts are as of October 2026, from Meta's pages listed at the end.

How many followers do you need to make money on Threads?

None. Meta has not published a Threads payout program, so there is no threshold to hit. What you need is an offer and an audience that wants it. A small account in a clear niche can outsell a big one with nothing to buy.

Views work the same way. Meta has not published a rate per view for Threads, so views are only the top of your funnel: people see a post, some tap your link, and a few buy. Track clicks and sales, not just views.

How do people make money on Threads?

They sell something, and their posts bring the buyers. Most creators who earn steadily build a value ladder, where each step feeds the next:

  1. Posts that earn attention. Free, useful and specific, so the right people follow you.
  2. A low-priced digital product. A template, a guide, a custom GPT or a blueprint. Cheap enough to buy on impulse.
  3. A high-priced offer. 1:1 coaching, consulting or done-for-you work for buyers who want more help.

Product buyers already trust you, so they are your best leads for the high-priced offer. Bonuses bundled in, like a checklist or a recorded walkthrough, make an offer feel worth more. Each way below fits on this ladder.

1. Sell a digital product

Package what you know into a download: a template, a guide, a prompt pack or a custom GPT. The price is low, the buyer's risk is low, and each sale costs you no extra time.

  1. Find the question people keep asking in your replies.
  2. Build the smallest version that answers it, priced so a new follower can say yes without a call.
  3. Post about the problem, not the product, and put the link in a reply.
Example: a post that sells without a link

Weak: "My new template is out! Grab it now."

Stronger: "I plan a month of posts in one sitting. The trick is writing every first line before any post. My template is in the reply."

When a post like that takes off, ElvenFlow's Auto-Plug adds your product link as a reply.

2. Sell coaching, consulting or done-for-you work

This is the top of the ladder: coaching calls, consulting, or doing the work for the client. You need fewer buyers, and each one expects more.

  1. Start with people who bought your product. They know your work.
  2. Say who it is for, what they get and what it costs.
  3. Solve real problems in public threads, so readers see how you would solve theirs.

ElvenFlow finds posts in your niche and drafts replies in your voice, which you edit before they go out.

3. Earn affiliate commissions

Recommend products you use, with a link that pays you a share of each sale. You build nothing, so it works before you have your own offer.

  1. Promote only what you use. One bad pick costs trust.
  2. Show it working, and say every time that it is an affiliate link.
  3. Put the link in a reply, not in the post.

Disclosure: ElvenFlow wrote this guide, and the ElvenFlow affiliate program is ours. If you use ElvenFlow, your link pays 30% of every payment from people you refer, for as long as they stay subscribed, and they get 20% off their first 3 months. Only recommend it if it helps you.

4. Land brand deals and sponsorships

Brands pay to reach an audience that fits, so your followers need to be their customers.

  1. Pick a niche a brand can picture. "Meal prep for night-shift nurses" beats "life stuff".
  2. Keep a one-page media kit: who follows you, your typical views and your best posts.
  3. Pitch brands you already use, and label sponsored posts clearly.

Threads analytics in ElvenFlow show each post's views, likes, replies, reposts and quotes, plus your follower count over time. Download the posts table as a CSV for your kit.

5. Build a newsletter or paid community

An email list is an audience you own, whatever the feed does. A paid tier or community turns your keenest readers into monthly members.

  1. Trade a free checklist for an email address.
  2. Send something useful on a schedule you can keep.
  3. Open a paid tier when readers start asking for more.

ElvenFlow's Evergreen publishes your best signup posts again as new posts, on a schedule you set.

6. Send traffic to your own business

Run a shop, an app, a studio or a local service? Threads is a free way to reach new customers.

  1. Post what you know: how you make it, mistakes you fixed, questions customers ask.
  2. Make your bio say what you sell.
  3. Answer every reply. Questions come from people close to buying.

A Threads scheduler lets you write the week in one sitting, and ElvenFlow counts the clicks on your Auto-Plug links.

7. Manage Threads for other businesses

Some businesses want to be on Threads but have no time. If you can grow an account, sell that skill for a monthly fee.

  1. Grow your own account first. It is your portfolio.
  2. Offer a clear package: posts a week, replies and a monthly report.
  3. Report views, replies and clicks, not just likes.

In ElvenFlow you can add each client as another account on your plan.

A note on income screenshots

Results on sales pages are self-reported. They show the best case, not the typical one, and you cannot check them. Judge a course by what it teaches. Most creators earn little until they have an offer people want.

Where should you put your link on Threads?

Put it in a reply under your post or in your profile, not in the post. In our study of 22,869 top Threads posts, only 45 (0.2%) had a link in the text. Their median engagement was 54, 36% lower than posts without one (84).

45 posts is a small group, so treat the exact gap with care. Among trending-feed posts only, just 29 had a link, too few to report. That view leaves out the 4,354 posts we collected by following 23 high-volume accounts directly. The clearer signal is how rare links are. Almost none of the best posts on Threads sent people somewhere else.

We did not measure links in replies, so we cannot prove they do better. The pattern still points one way: make the post worth reading on its own, and keep the sale one tap away. See our study of what top Threads posts have in common.

  • Profile: one link to the page you most want people on.
  • Reply: one link under a post it fits, with a line saying what it is.
  • Post: only when the link is the point and the post still stands alone.

Engagement is likes, replies, reposts and quotes, as a median per post. A link is a web address or domain typed into the first post. Posts published from June 14, 2025 to June 13, 2026.

How do you turn a viral Threads post into sales?

Have the offer and the reply ready before the post takes off, then put one clear link under it while people are still reading. The attention does not last, so the link has to be there at the peak.

  1. Write the reply now. One line on what the offer is and who it is for, then the link.
  2. Let it post itself. In ElvenFlow's Auto-Plug you pick a goal in likes, replies, reposts or views, like 100 likes. When the post hits it, ElvenFlow posts your reply under it.
  3. Track the clicks. With "Track link clicks" on, ElvenFlow swaps in a short elvenflow.com link that opens the same page and counts the people who click, not bots. Many views and few clicks means the reply needs work. Clicks and no sales means the page does.
  4. Give it a second wave. Auto-Repost shares the post again for people who were offline, and Evergreen brings it back weeks later as a new post.

Timing helps a post take off. Check the best time to post on Threads for the hours that won in our study.

Why do your Threads posts get likes but no sales?

Because something between the like and the sale leaks. A like costs nothing. A sale needs the reader to know what you sell, be asked, understand the offer and get through your page.

  1. Unclear positioning. Readers cannot say what you do. Fix it with one line on who you help and with what, in your bio and in most posts. When you connect, ElvenFlow lists the products it finds in your posts and bio links under Your Products. If that list is empty or wrong, your readers are unsure too.
  2. A weak or missing call to action. You never say the next step. Say it once, plainly: "The full checklist is in the reply." Skip "comment YES" bait.
  3. A vague offer. "Check out my course" gives no reason to click. Name who it is for, the result, what is inside and the price.
  4. A landing page that leaks buyers. People click and leave. Open it on your phone. The headline should match the post, the price and button should show without scrolling, and checkout should take a few taps.
  5. No follow-up after the first purchase. One sale, then silence. Collect the email at checkout, send a quick win, then offer the next step up the ladder. Ask buyers what they need next.

Can you sell on Threads without ads or sales calls?

Yes. Some creators sell only through content: posts, a profile link and replies. No ads, no cold messages, no calls. It takes a clear offer and a steady flow of posts.

Make the sales page answer what a call would: who it is for, what is inside, what happens after they pay, and refunds. Reply to everyone, since other readers see those conversations. Keep the link in your profile and in an Auto-Plug reply, so the post stays worth reading.

Common mistakes when making money on Threads

The biggest are waiting for Meta to pay you and putting a link in every post.

  • Waiting for a payout. Build an offer now.
  • Paying for "monetization access". Meta says its bonuses are invite-only, so be wary of anyone selling a spot.
  • A link in every post. Top posts almost never had one.
  • Selling in every post. Most posts should teach or entertain.
  • Counting likes, not clicks. Likes do not pay.
